Ever asked yourself ‘What Is A Sales Funnel’? Well, remember 15-20 years ago when most businesses didn’t have a website?

More importantly, most even questioned the need for one and claimed them to be a waste of time. Now, sales funnels are today where websites were 15-20 years ago, and they are still in the very early stages of adaptation.

We live in a world where websites play a huge role in sharing information and providing value to your audience. But also, those that neglected website early on had to play catch up later and it was a costly mistake for many businesses.

Don’t make the same mistake that those people did when it comes to sales funnels. Get on top of what they are and how to use them quickly before everyone else and reap the benefits early.

See our video on the subject here above…

What Makes A Funnel Different To A Website?

Sales Funnels are free from distractions and focused on increasing conversions.

But even more importantly, they are highly effective in increasing your average cart value through seamlessly offering up-sells, down-sells, cross-sells.

A sales funnel is kinda like a high performing salesperson in a well-planned retail setting.

Efficient, performance-driven, and providing the customers with exactly what they want.

On the contrary, most standard websites are more like a library where you can find lots of things and full of distractions. But even worse, to actually buy something you need to find the cafe tucked away in the corner.

Staff often being a young, careless worker that doesn’t really care as long as he is paid. Ineffecient, easy to distract, and hard to find what you’re looking for.

Your sales funnel turn prospects into customers and take them on the journey you want them to go through. This is crucial and super under-utilized as most businesses still only rely on simple websites, e-commerce solutions, and platforms.

While they still have their place, the correct use of sales funnels can 10X your sales. (Note: Not a guarantee, just understand how efficient they can be)

What Does A Sales Funnel Look Like?

While the sky is the limit, simple and clean usually leads to high conversions. Remember, fewer disctractions and a narrow focus is going to help your customer stay on the journey you want them on.

But instead of trying to describe what works well, see the video above where you are walked through a sales funnel.

You might think to yourself that building these sales funnels looks like it’s going to cost you lots of time, money, and/or effort?

But you’re wrong, in the example above the funnel took a total of about 45-60 minutes to create from scratch. However, it can be even quicker for you because you can grab an exact copy of that funnel and other templates below.

Anatomy Of A Sales Funnel

What are the most important componenets of an efficient and high converting sales funnel?

There are 4 main components that make up your sales funnel listed below.

  1. Irresistible Offer
  2. Copywriting
  3. Design
  4. (Value Maximizers)

Creating Your Irresistible Offer

Without a great offer you cannot expect high conversion rates, with or without a sales funnel. But if you can craft a great an irresistible offer that has high relevancy to your audience and with a high perceived value you’re golden.

With high relevancy and high perceived value your irresistible offer will go a long way on selling itself for you. In other words, spend more time and effort on the offer because it is one of the most important components.

You want to create a ‘stack’ of the things included in your offer, with the value of each thing included.

Writing High Converting Copy

Copywriting is a very important component of creating sales funnels.

Every single word that is used in your sales funnel should be optimized for, and focused on, converting your visitors to buyers.

But also as they progress through your sales funnel to get those that committed to buy, to also commit to your value maximizers (see more below).

While creating copy is a skill that is hard to master, getting around the basics is rather easy and quick. We strongly recommend The Advertising Solution as the best beginners resource to learn and understand the ground rules of copywriting.

It gathers the most important copywriting considerations founded by all the great copywriters in on easy to digest book.

Designing Your Sales Funnel Made Easy

Remove all unnecessary distractions such as menus, links, pictures, and filler-text.

If it could lead the visitor somewhere else than to purchase your offer, it should be removed.

Keep the overall design simple, clean, and appealing to look at. There are many software options, themes, and plugins that you can use for this purpose.

But two of the best options to create your sales funnels are Clickfunnels and Divi from Elegant Themes.

Both of them make design easy and they come with great drag-and-drop editors in WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) format.

On top of that Clickfunnels and Divi come with great templates that are super easy to start using and edit to your liking straight away.

Maximize Average Cart Value & Lifetime Value

Increasing your average cart and lifetime values are critical to break even quicker and start turning a profit.

You do this with your up-sells, down-sells, cross-sells, order bumps and add-ons. They will increase the average cart and lifetime value but more importantly allow you to provide more value to your customers.

Here you want to offer ‘the next logical thing’ to them in an effortless way to get an easy YES. Setting this up is significantly easier and more streamlined in Clickfunnels as that is one of it’s main features.

This will allow you to maximize the value of each visitor much more, and make any updates needed on-the-fly. If you want a better understanding of value maximizers and how to structure these, DotComSecrets is our recommended resource.

Your First Sales Funnel

Your sales funnels don’t even need to offer anything that has a price at the first page of the funnel. Furthermore, it can even be better in certain situations so give something perceived as valuable away first.

This allows you to ‘confirm subscribers‘, putting them on your email list meaning you can keep communicating with them in the future. But it also means that they are clearly interested in what you are giving them in return for their email details.

Henceforth, if you can figure out the next logical thing, and offer that to them at a very low price point you should get a decent conversion rate.

That’s called ‘confirming buyers‘, and once you have done that you should keep offering more things in the sales funnel. These people have taken out their credit cards, then given you their money in return for your offer, that’s powerful.

Now everyone will not buy everything, but offering more things in your funnel will help increase the average spend across the funnel itself.

If you never offer a $1,000 product to anyone, no one can ever buy it.

Hopefully you’ve got a better understanding of what a sales funnel is.
